Leading organisations are now implementing "AI agent registries" that catalogue all autonomous systems, their intended functions, access requirements, and security controls. These registries enable IT teams to maintain visibility over AI deployments and ensure that each agent operates within defined security boundaries.

The framework must also address the unique challenge of AI agent authentication and authorisation. Unlike human users who can be held accountable for their actions, AI agents require technical safeguards such as cryptographic identity verification, tamper-evident logging, and automated anomaly detection to prevent unauthorised activities or system compromise.
